The Kennebec River Zen Center was established in 2001. We follow a Japanese style of Zen as practiced at Zen Mountain Monastery. The teaching of the late John Daido Loori and the Mountain and Rivers Order (MRO) have been a primary inspiration for us. A variety of other Buddhist teachings and traditions also help to shape our practice Our goal is to provide a resource for anyone who is interested in contemplative spirituality regardless of experience or training. Through weekly meditation practice, academic study and a variety of special events we seek to participate in an ongoing dialogue with the Interfaith Community and support Buddhist practice in Maine.
The Center is located at 38 Chapel Street (NW corner Chapel and Green Streets) in Augusta, Maine
